Dojo Storm Privacy Policy
Last Updated: August 20, 2026
This privacy policy applies to the Dojo Storm app for mobile devices (the "Application"), operated by DOJO STORM LLC ("we," "us," "the Service Provider"). It describes what information the Application actually collects, how it's used, who it's shared with, and the choices you have.
Information We Collect
When you register an account, we collect: your email address and password (handled via Firebase Authentication — we never see or store your password ourselves), your name, belt rank, home gym, and current weight.
As you use the Application, we collect and store: your weight history (recorded at each match weigh-in), your tournament rank, records of challenges you send and receive (including proposed dates, locations, and negotiation history), match results, referee names/notes, outcome notes, and any discrepancy reports you submit about a match result.
Optional content you choose to provide: a profile photo, and match videos you upload after a completed match.
Device permissions: the Application requests camera access to scan QR codes for the in-person "Encounter" match feature and to let you take a profile photo, and photo library access to let you select a profile photo or upload match videos. We do not access your camera or photo library for any other purpose, and do not access them in the background.
We do not use analytics SDKs, advertising SDKs, or cookies/tracking pixels. The Application does not collect your device's IP address, browsing history, or usage analytics beyond what's described above.
How We Use Your Information
We use the information above to: operate the tournament ranking and challenge system, notify you of incoming challenges and match updates, allow you and other approved competitors to see rankings and match history, and let an administrator review reported match discrepancies. We may also send you essential service communications (e.g., account or match-related notices required for the Application to function). We do not send you marketing communications.
Marketing use of your likeness is optional and off by default. If you turn on "Share My Photos & Video" in Settings, you consent to us using photos and video of you — from matches, weigh-ins, and events — in marketing such as our Instagram, website, and promotional materials. You receive no payment, and you can withdraw consent at any time in Settings (future posts will exclude you). Competitors under 18 are handled separately via a signed parent/guardian form.
Data Storage and Third Parties
The Application is built on Firebase, a set of Google Cloud services. Your account data, match/challenge records, notifications, and any uploaded photos or videos are stored using Firebase Authentication, Cloud Firestore, and Firebase Storage (Google Cloud infrastructure). Google processes this data on our behalf as our infrastructure provider; it is not sold or shared with any other third party, and we do not transmit aggregated or de-identified data to any external analytics or advertising service, because we do not use any.
Visibility to Other Competitors
This is a shared tournament app: your name, belt rank, profile photo (if set), current tournament rank and weight, and completed match history are visible to other approved competitors within the Application. Only an administrator can see account-approval status, freeze/warning history, and reported discrepancies.
In addition, a public rankings page (dojostorm.app/rankings) displays your name, belt rank, current tournament rank, and rival standing, along with upcoming match-ups (the competitors' names only — no dates or locations) and recent match results, so that anyone with the link — not only signed-in competitors — can follow the tournament. This public page does not show your email address, weight, or full match history.
Data Retention and Deletion
You can delete your account at any time directly in the app, under Settings → Delete My Account. This permanently removes your competitor profile, your uploaded profile photo and match videos, and your Firebase Authentication account. Match and challenge records that involve other competitors — for example, a match the two of you took part in — are retained as part of those competitors' records. If you'd prefer assistance or have questions about data we hold, contact us at admin@dojostorm.app.
Your Rights
You may request access to, correction of, or deletion of your personal data at any time by using the in-app deletion feature above or by contacting the Service Provider at admin@dojostorm.app. Where our processing of your data is based on consent, you may withdraw that consent at any time using the same contact.
Children's Privacy
The Application is not directed at children under 13, and use of the Application requires being at least 16 years old (or having a parent/legal guardian's consent — see our Terms of Use). We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If we learn that we have collected such information, we will delete it promptly. If you believe a child has provided us with personal information, contact us at admin@dojostorm.app.
Your California Privacy Rights (CCPA/CPRA)
If you are a California resident, you have the right to know what personal information is collected, the right to delete personal information, the right to opt out of the sale or sharing of personal information, and the right to non-discrimination for exercising these rights. We do not sell or share your personal information as those terms are defined under the CCPA/CPRA. To exercise your rights, contact us at admin@dojostorm.app.
International Data Transfers
Because our infrastructure provider (Google Cloud/Firebase) operates data centers globally, your information may be processed or stored in a country other than your country of residence, including outside the European Economic Area (EEA). Where applicable law requires safeguards for such transfers, we rely on Google Cloud's own compliance mechanisms (including Standard Contractual Clauses where applicable) to protect your data.
Changes to This Policy
We may update this policy from time to time. Material changes will be reflected by an updated "Last Updated" date above. Continued use of the Application after a change constitutes acceptance of the updated policy.
